Enjoy a handful of your favorite buildings and activities!

Before you visit the Historic Village, explore the schedule below to discover the variety of demonstrations, expert talks, historic tastings, and more happening each day at MCHS!

MCHS is open 11 am – 3 pm, on the third Saturday in January, February, and March. Enjoy these winter weekends by exploring a handful of historic buildings in the Village, embrace the winter by snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or sledding, and enjoy the season!

Purchase daily admission tickets online in advance, or in the McAllister House Welcome Center when you arrive.


Schedule for March:

It’s all about fiber arts with many activities and demonstrations.

Today’s highlights:

  • Help make a community quilt at the Dress shop.  

  • Weaving and spinning demonstrations at the Two Creeks Town Hall.

  • Bring your needles or Crochet and join in the Knit In in the Sorenson parlor. You can also add stitches to a community cross-stitch.

  • A special sweet treat: See the techniques and tools that early settlers used to collect sap and make maple sugar.


Enhance your visit with a Hands-on Workshop

Advanced registration is required for the Create-Connect workshops. Click on the titles for information about each program. Your workshop fee also includes general admission for the day!

Wool Spinning Workshop with Hidden Valley Farm and Woolen Mill : Learn the basics of spinning wool, a timeless skill that Wisconsinites have been doing for generations! Participants will get to feel the differences between different breeds of wool, hone their skills using a drop spindle, and take home yarn that they’ve spun themselves. The class includes all the supplies, including your very own drop spindle to take home.
